Yes, we recommend pet insurance. While we do everything possible to breed healthy dogs, unexpected accidents (like swallowing a sock!), illnesses or injuries can happen. We recommend companies like Trupanion or Lemonade. We send all of our puppies home with 30 Days of Free insurance from Trupanion.
What is the difference between Limited Registration and Full Registration?
We offer two types of AKC registration:
Limited Registration: For pets only. These dogs cannot be bred or shown in conformation shows, and you must agree to a spay/neuter contract.
Full Registration: Allows for breeding and showing. This is available only on a strict case-by-case basis for approved breeding programs.
Where are you located?
Harman Corgis is located on a private farm near Perryton, Texas, in the northeastern Texas Panhandle. We are approximately 2 hours north of Amarillo, TX and 3.5 hours from Oklahoma City, OK.
Do you offer transportation options?
Yes, we offer three ways to get your puppy home:
Local Pickup: You can pick up your puppy in person near Perryton, TX.
Ground Transport: Available for buyers in Texas and neighboring states.
Flight Nanny: For long-distance buyers, a professional nanny flies with the puppy in the cabin to your nearest airport.
Can I pick my puppy up in person?
Yes, you are welcome to pick up your puppy in person. We will meet you at a designated public location in Perryton or the surrounding area.
Note: To maintain strict biosecurity and prevent Parvo, we do not allow visitors inside our kennel facilities.
Can you tell me more about flying with a puppy?
Yes, we will meet you at Amarillo’s Rick Husband airport where you can pick up your puppy and fly home with them in the cabin of the airplane.
You will be responsible for making flight arrangements, purchasing a pet pass and supplying an airline-approved pet travel bag that will fit under the seat of the plane.
Please check with us before booking flights to make sure that we will be able to meet you on a specific day and time. Remember that we are 2 hours away from Amarillo so we must make plans in advance.
How does flight nanny service work?
Our flight nanny service ensures your puppy flies safely in the airplane cabin with a dedicated chaperone, never in cargo. The nanny will fly to your nearest major airport and hand-deliver the puppy to you.
The Process & Costs:
Coordination: We put you directly in touch with our trusted nanny to arrange the schedule.
What is Included: The fee covers round-trip airline tickets, the airline’s “Pet Pass” fee, and the nanny’s time/service fee.
Payment: All travel fees must be paid in advance so flights can be booked immediately.
- This is our most expensive transport option.
Why do you require a deposit to be placed on the waiting list?
A deposit is required to ensure buyer commitment. This prevents our waiting list from becoming inflated with people who are on multiple lists, allowing us to accurately plan future breedings for families who are truly ready for a Harman Corgi.
What forms of payment do you take?
We accept secure payments through Good Dog, Zelle or Square. These platforms allow you to use major credit cards and bank transfers safely. Merchant fees will be applied to purchases through Square.
Can I make payments towards a future puppy?
Yes, we allow buyers to make pre-payments to build up credit toward a future puppy. If you decide not to purchase, these payments are 100% refundable (minus the initial processing fee on your deposit).
Do buyers have to pay sales tax when they purchase a puppy?
Yes, Texas state law requires us to collect 6.25% sales tax on all puppies picked up in Texas or delivered to a Texas address.
Will full payment be required before my puppy can be shipped?

Health & Care
What steps do you take to ensure that puppies & dogs stay healthy?
We follow a rigorous biosecurity and health protocol:
On-Farm Vet Visits: Our vet comes to us to reduce disease exposure.
No Public Visitors: We limit foot traffic to prevent Parvo.
Strict Schedules: We adhere to a precise vaccination and deworming schedule.
Do you genetically test dogs in your breeding program?
Yes, every parent dog is genetically tested. We screen for over 200 genetic conditions, including the major Corgi-specific diseases: Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), von Willebrand’s Disease (vWD1), and Exercise-Induced Collapse (EIC).
What does it mean if a puppy is a "Carrier" for a genetic trait?
A “Carrier” is 100% healthy and will never develop the disease. Being a carrier simply means the dog has one copy of a gene (from one parent) but not the other. In recessive traits like DM or vWD1, a dog must have two copies to be affected. We sometimes breed a “Clear” parent to a “Carrier” parent to maintain genetic diversity, guaranteeing that none of the puppies will be affected by the disease.
Are your puppies vaccinated and wormed before they leave?
Yes, all puppies are up-to-date on vaccinations and deworming appropriate for their age before they go to their new homes. You will receive a full health record to give to your veterinarian.
Are your puppies microchipped?
Yes, every puppy is microchipped with an AKC Reunite chip. The cost of the chip and implantation is included in the puppy’s price. For your puppy’s safety, we require you to complete the enrollment before pickup. This ensures that if the puppy is ever lost, both you (the owner) and Harman Corgis (the breeder) are contacted immediately.
Am I required to spay or neuter my puppy?
Yes, unless you have Full Registration. Our Limited Registration contract includes a clause requiring you to provide proof of spay/neuter by 9 months of age.
Do you require a contract?
Yes, all puppy placements require a signed contract. This legal agreement is designed to protect both the buyer and the breeder, outlining our health guarantee, return policy, and registration terms. Our contracts are professionally drafted by a Texas attorney specializing in animal law to ensure they are fair, clear, and comprehensive.

When can I take my puppy home?
Puppies are ready to go home at 9 to 10 weeks of age. We keep them until this age to ensure they have passed their “fear period,” are well-socialized, and fully weaned.
What do you feed your puppies?
We feed TLC Puppy Food. We recommend keeping your puppy on this food for the first year to ensure consistent growth and gut health. Please visit our Recommended Products for Corgis page for more information on this food.
Puppy Traits & Training
Will my puppy be potty trained?
Your puppy will be started on potty training, but not fully housebroken. They will be trained to use a litter box, pee pads, and grass. You will need to continue this training at home and we will provide resources to help you train your puppy.
How long can I leave my puppy alone during the day?
Young puppies generally cannot hold their bladder for more than 2-3 hours. If you work full-time outside the home, you will need a plan, such as a pet sitter, a neighbor, or coming home at lunch.
We recommend a “puppy Pen” set up and crate training to prevent your puppy from destroying items and to keep them safe when unsupervised.
Will my puppy be Crate trained?
Your puppy will be accustomed to a crate. We ensure they view the crate as a safe space, but they may still need time to adjust to being alone in a crate at your home.
Are Corgis good with small children?
Yes, but they require management and training. Because Corgis are a herding breed, they have a natural instinct to “herd” moving objects, which can include running children. We work on bite inhibition from a young age, but families with small children must be prepared to correct this behavior consistently. We are happy to discuss training strategies with you.
Will my puppy be started in obedience training?
Yes, we begin basic manners training. This includes not jumping, sitting for food, and learning patience.
What is the "Puppy Culture" method you use?
Puppy Culture is a science-based socialization program we use to build resilience in puppies. Our Next level Puppy Program utilizes Puppy Culture protocols along with other scientifically recognized dog training and socializing programs. We realize that the experiences that a puppy has during its first 16 weeks of life will shape its’ future and impact how it will act as an adult.
Do you ever offer any adult dogs for sale?
Yes, occasionally. We sometimes have retired females or young adults available. These dogs are typically house-trained and crate-trained. Check our “Available Dogs” page for updates. for you.
Contact us if you are interested in this option or check our Available Dogs & Puppies page.
Do you offer puppies with long tails?
No, we do not offer puppies with long tails. As a preservation breeder, we strictly follow the AKC breed standard, which requires tails to be short. All Harman Corgis either have natural bobtails or are docked shortly after birth. Because docking is done at just a few days old (long before puppy selection), we cannot fulfill requests to leave tails intact.
What if I can no longer care for my puppy or dog?
We have a lifetime return policy. If you can no longer keep your dog, please contact us. We will either take the dog back or assist you in rehoming them. Our dogs must never be surrendered to a shelter.
What is Clicker or Marker training?
Clicker training is a positive reinforcement method. We use a “click” sound or a marker word (like “Yes!”) to instantly tell the puppy they did the right thing, followed immediately by a treat. All our puppies are introduced to this concept.
Do you allow visitors?
No, strictly for health safety. To prevent the spread of deadly viruses like Parvo, we do not allow the public into our puppy nursery. However, we provide video calls (Zoom) so you can see the puppies live and interact with us.
Does the coat color change as they get older?
Yes, Pembroke Welsh Corgi coats change significantly. Puppies often have dark masking that fades. Red and Sable puppies, in particular, will lighten as they mature into adults.
Sometimes it is very hard to tell what color a puppy will end up as an adult but of course we do our best to make these predictions.
See examples on our “Coat color & color change” page.
