How to Get a Harman Corgi Puppy
If you’re interested in getting a Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy from Harman Corgis, this page walks you through the process from the first form to the day your puppy comes home.
What to Expect
I know getting a puppy is a big decision, and I want you to understand how my process works before you join the waiting list.
It starts with the Getting to Know You Form and a phone conversation. From there, I’ll keep you updated about upcoming litters, and when puppies are born, I’ll contact families on my waiting list to see who may be ready for that litter.
Once you commit to a litter, you’ll get to watch the puppies grow while I send you information to help you prepare. After the puppies have their vet checks and temperament evaluations, we’ll meet privately on Zoom to talk through the puppies before it’s time for you to choose.
Here’s how it works from beginning to end.
Getting to Know You
The first step is completing my Getting to Know You Form. It gives me a chance to learn about you, your family, your experience with dogs, your lifestyle, and what you’re hoping for in a Corgi.
After I review your form, I’ll contact you to set up a phone call. This gives us a chance to talk about what you’re looking for, answer your questions, and make sure you understand how my waiting list and puppy process work.
Join the Waiting List
After our phone call, if you’d like to move forward, you’ll have the opportunity to join my waiting list with a $200 deposit. That deposit is applied toward the purchase price of your puppy.
Before joining the list, you’ll review and sign my Reservation Agreement. It explains how the waiting list works, the payment schedule, payment options, and other important details.
Being on the waiting list does not guarantee a particular litter, sex, color, or go-home date. It gives you your place in line, and I’ll keep you updated about upcoming litters that may work for what you’re looking for.
Watch for Litter Availability Emails
When a litter is born, I’ll contact families on my waiting list in order to see who may be ready for that litter. I’ll share information about the litter, including the parents, number of puppies, sexes and colors.
You’ll have 72 hours to let me know whether you’re interested. If the timing isn’t right or the litter doesn’t have what you’re looking for, you can stay on the waiting list for a future litter.
Reserve Your Place in a Specific Litter
If you decide you’d like to be considered for that litter, you’ll make the $600 Litter Commitment payment. This confirms your place in that litter and is applied toward the purchase price of your puppy.
Your puppy selection order is based on your position on the waiting list. At this point, you’ll also begin receiving my Puppy Prep emails so you can start getting ready while the puppies grow.
Watch Your Puppy Grow & Get Ready
This is when the fun part really begins. I’ll share weekly puppy videos so you can watch the litter grow and see their personalities begin to develop.
You’ll also receive Puppy Prep emails with information about supplies, training, feeding, grooming, veterinary care and other things you’ll want to have ready before your puppy comes home.
Vet Check & Temperament Evaluation
At about 6 weeks, the puppies have their veterinary examinations. At around 7 weeks, I complete formal temperament evaluations in an unfamiliar location with an unfamiliar tester.
I look at traits such as energy level, confidence, independence, people-orientation and biddability, along with how each puppy responds to new experiences.
I use that information along with everything I’ve learned from raising the puppies to help you understand the differences between them before puppy selection.
Puppy Selection & Final Payment
After the vet checks and temperament evaluations are complete, we’ll meet privately on Zoom. I’ll go through the puppies’ temperament results, talk about what I’ve seen while raising them, and answer your questions.
Families choose in waiting-list order. I’ll give you my guidance based on what you’ve told me you’re looking for, but the final puppy choice is yours.
The remaining balance and Texas sales tax are due before your puppy goes home.
Go-Home Day & Beyond
Then it’s finally time to bring your puppy home. Depending on where you live, you can pick up near me in the Texas Panhandle, meet me in Amarillo, or arrange one of the transportation options I offer.
My support doesn’t end when your puppy leaves. I’ll continue sending helpful information as you work through those first days and months together, and you can always reach out when you have questions.
I also love hearing how my puppies are doing as they grow, so don’t be surprised when I ask for updates and pictures.
