A Thoughtful Process for the Right Match

Bringing home a puppy is a big decision, and we want the process to feel clear from the beginning. At Harman Corgis, puppies are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis alone. We consider timing, family lifestyle, temperament, energy level, and the best fit for each puppy and family.

The steps below will help you understand what to expect from the waiting list through go-home day.

Your Step-by Step Path

1

Join the Waiting List

The first step is completing our Getting to Know You Form and joining the Harman Corgis waiting list. This helps us learn more about your family, lifestyle, timing, and what you are hoping for in a future companion.

3

Watch for Litter Availablilty Emails

When puppies are around one week old and we know they are healthy and thriving, Leslie reaches out to families on the waiting list whose preferences align with that specific litter.

You’ll receive information about the parents, the puppies, expected timing, and what we anticipate from the litter. This allows you to determine whether the litter may be a good fit for your family, lifestyle, and goals before deciding to reserve a spot.

Families on the waiting list are always contacted before information is shared publicly.

5

Watch the Puppies Grow and Prepare for Your Puppy

Families receive access to a dedicated litter webpage, private photo album, and video playlist where they can follow the puppies’ growth week by week.

You’ll watch eyes open, personalities emerge, confidence grow, and important developmental milestones unfold.

Throughout this time, you’ll also receive weekly preparation emails designed to help you get ready for life with your puppy. We’ll help you choose supplies, find a veterinarian, make transportation arrangements, and prepare your home before go-home day.

By the time your puppy is ready to come home, you’ll already feel connected to their journey.

7

Private Zoom Puppy Selection Meeting

Around 7.5 weeks of age, each family schedules a private Zoom meeting with Leslie to review the puppies, discuss temperament testing results, and choose their puppy with guidance.

Our goal is not simply for families to choose the puppy they like best in photos, but to help them choose the puppy who is the best fit for their life.

2

Stay Updated Through the Newsletter

Families on our list are encouraged to sign up for our monthly newsletter. This is where we share program updates, planned breedings, confirmed pregnancies, available puppy news, and helpful preparation resources.

4

Reserve Your Place in a Specific Litter

Once you’ve decided a litter is the right fit, you’ll reserve your place and officially join that litter’s update list.

This allows us to begin planning for your future puppy and ensures you’ll receive ongoing information as the puppies grow and develop.

6

Vet Checks and Temperament Testing

Around 6 weeks of age, puppies receive their veterinary examination. Around 7 weeks, we complete temperament evaluations to help us better understand each puppy’s personality, confidence, energy level, and natural tendencies.

These evaluations help guide the matching process so families can choose a puppy who fits their home and lifestyle.

8

Bring Your Puppy Home

Puppies usually go home around 9 weeks of age. By this time, they have had their vet check, temperament evaluation, early socialization, and age-appropriate preparation through our program.

Whether you are picking up in person, meeting us at the Amarillo airport, using a flight nanny, or arranging ground transportation, we will help you prepare for a smooth transition home.
