OUR STORY
Where It All Began
Harman Corgis began in 2013, but my love of animals started long before that. I was raised on a farm and ranch in the Texas Panhandle, where dogs and horses were always part of everyday life. Today, my husband Wayne and I continue to farm and ranch here, and our dogs are very much a part of that life. I had wanted a Corgi for years, and eventually that dream grew into the idea of raising them.
After 24 years of teaching in public schools and colleges, I stepped away from education and had the opportunity to devote more time to Harman Corgis. What began as a love for the breed quickly became a passion for helping other families experience the joy of owning a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
Like most breeders, I learned a great deal along the way. Some lessons came from experience, some from other breeders who were generous enough to share what they had learned, and many came from continuing to study health, genetics, puppy development, and the breed itself.
Those early years shaped the program we have today—one focused on raising healthy, well-prepared Corgis and helping families find a dog they can love for years to come.
A Turning Point
In 2018, I discovered Puppy Culture, and it changed the way I thought about raising puppies.
It taught me how much of a lasting impact early socialization can have on a dog’s life. The experiences puppies have during their first 16 weeks help prepare them to successfully navigate the human world they will live in for the rest of their lives.
That realization changed the way I raised our puppies. It was no longer enough to simply provide excellent care while they were with us. I wanted to use those important early weeks to intentionally introduce them to new experiences, sounds, surfaces, people, handling, and age-appropriate challenges that would help prepare them for life with their future families.
Puppy Culture became the foundation of our puppy-raising program and started a journey of continually learning more about puppy development, socialization, and how we can better prepare our puppies for the lives ahead of them.
Supporting Families Beyond Go-Home Day
In 2020, another important part of our program began to take shape. When COVID closed puppy classes and made veterinary care and socialization more difficult, I realized that raising a well-prepared puppy was only part of the equation. New owners needed preparation and support, too.
We began using Zoom to meet with families, started our YouTube channel to give puppy owners practical resources they could return to when they needed them, and created more educational information to help families prepare for their puppies and navigate those important first weeks at home.
My years as an educator naturally became part of Harman Corgis. I loved helping families understand their puppies, answering their questions, and giving them practical information they could use rather than simply sending a puppy home and wishing them well.
What began out of necessity became a permanent part of our program. Today, education and ongoing support are an important part of the Harman Corgis experience—from preparing for your puppy to the questions that come up months or even years after your Corgi comes home.

What We’ve Learned Shapes What We Do Today
More than a decade after Harman Corgis began, we’re still raising our dogs and puppies on our farm and ranch in the Texas Panhandle—and we’re still learning.
Everything we’ve learned along the way has shaped the program we have today. Thoughtful breeding, health testing, early socialization, temperament evaluation, buyer education, and ongoing support all work together toward one goal: raising healthy, well-prepared Pembroke Welsh Corgis who can become wonderful family companions.
We continue to study, evaluate what we’re doing, and make changes when we find a better way. I believe good breeders never stop learning, because there is always more we can do for our dogs, our puppies, and the families who love them.
